Last November, Ally decided to have her gorgeous young cat, Lunar, photographed and so she brought him to my Studio.
Lunar stepped out of his carry-box and strutted around my Studio like he owned it. He made sure my job was not easy and I worked hard to photograph him in all his Supermodel/Vogue glory. I remember sprinting up the stairs after him with my big camera and chuckling to myself about how much I love my job. Cats hold their own space and no one can change that about them. I love that.
Last week Ally contacted me to let me know Lunar was ill with liver disease. He’s only 18 months old… how could this be? He started to show some improvement and I was praying, along with many others on social media, that he’d be ok.
Last night I received the message that broke my heart. It was time to let Lunar go to Rainbow Bridge – his liver was shutting down. As a fur child Mum, I felt Ally’s pain and I know what it’s like to hold your fur baby as they pass from this world to the next. But, Lunar is a lucky boy. He is loved to the moon and back by his human parents. He transitioned with love and his human family was around him. They could not have given him a greater gift.
My gift to them was my ability to photograph their beloved Lunar and capture his essence for all time through these images. Watch the slideshow and be moved by his outstanding beauty. These images are now priceless to his family.
If you only take one thing away from this blog then know that love is really all there is… the rest is simply an illusion that masks the truth. Remember what really matters.
