Among my most treasured possessions are photographs of the people and animals I have loved. Pictures of pets, from my childhood to today, are throughout my home so I will never forget their gentle light. Images of grandparents I last saw more than 40 years ago, and of my father, draw us together again each time I look at them. Even the faded portraits in a 180 year old family album connect me to ancestors I never met, yet somehow recognise. I hope your own photographs will travel down through your family in the same way. One day, those who follow you, may see themselves reflected in you.
This belief in the power of an image sits at the heart of my work. My style is simple, calm, and classic, influenced by historical portraits such as those in London’s National Portrait Gallery or Paris’ Museum d’Orsay. I photograph each animal in my air-conditioned home studio, using a hand-painted backdrop and very few props so the focus rests entirely on them. My aim is to create a timeless piece of fine art with the quiet emotion of an Old Masters painting, something that reveals the true depth of character of your companion. You may hang your portraits proudly or keep them private. The choice remains yours.
What matters most to me is that your pet will exist in beautiful, timeless portraits, something you can return to for the rest of your life. Photographs never forget.
I am based on Perth’s northern beaches and completed the rigorous admission process of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography in 2016, earning the title of AIPP Accredited Professional Photographer.
