Why Printing Your Photographs Matters

A Family Album from 1884

One of my most treasured possessions is a leather-bound family photograph album. It was given to my great-great-grandmother by her brother in 1884, complete with a handwritten inscription.

More than 140 years later, I am now its custodian.

I love showing this wonderful album to friends. The photographs offer a glimpse into my family’s past and the people who came before me. Best of all, they haven’t been forgotten or lost.

And that makes me wonder. Will our digital photographs still be around in another 140 years?

“I Only Want the Digitals”

As a professional pet photographer in Perth, I regularly receive enquiries from people who say:

“I only want the digitals.”

I understand the appeal. Digital photographs are convenient, easy to share and simple to store.

That’s why I offer digital collections alongside my printed portrait options.

However, I always encourage my clients to print their favourite images.

After all, what’s the point of having beautiful photographs of your dog or cat if they spend their lives hidden away on a hard drive?

A printed photograph is something you can enjoy every day. You don’t need to find a device, remember a password or search through hundreds of files.

It’s simply there, waiting to be admired.

And if you choose a digital collection, I’m always happy to offer guidance on printing and displaying your photographs.

Fine Art Pet Portraits for Your Home

A beautiful portrait of your pet is more than just artwork for your walls.

It’s a daily reminder of the love, companionship and happiness they bring into your life.

Whether you choose a framed portrait or a larger piece of wall art, a professionally printed photograph becomes part of your home and your family’s story.

It might even become a treasured family heirloom, just like my great-great-grandmother’s photograph album.

Photographs Are Meant to Be Enjoyed

Digital photographs certainly have their place. They’re wonderful for sharing with friends and family, and properly backed-up files can help preserve our memories.

But I believe the photographs we love most deserve to be printed.

At Jane Earle Photography, I create portraits of dogs and cats that capture their individual personalities. My hope is that these photographs will be enjoyed for many years, rather than forgotten on a phone.

Because technology will change, but the love we have for our animals doesn’t disappear.

Nothing breaks the bond of love. Least of all, time.

Best,
