The Art of Remembering

As a Perth pet photographer, I believe there is something rather extraordinary about a photograph. It can take us back decades, remind us of those we have loved and bring us close to someone we thought we had lost. Long after the moment has passed, the photograph remains.

Your pets are part of your family. They have their own personalities, peculiar habits and ways of looking at you that are entirely their own. My work is about capturing those little things that make them so special, creating beautiful portraits that will mean just as much to you in forty years as they do today.

A Different Kind of Pet Photography

At my private studio in Ocean Reef, Perth, there is no rush. Your dog or cat has time to settle, explore and become comfortable in their surroundings. Some arrive full of confidence, others need a little more encouragement. Both are equally welcome.

My approach is calm, patient and deliberately simple. Using hand-painted backdrops, carefully considered lighting and just a few carefully chosen props, including two Georgian chairs from the historic city of Bath in England, both over 200 years old. I create classic, fine art portraits where your companion is always the centre of attention.

Inspired by the great portrait painters and the remarkable works found in London’s National Portrait Gallery and Paris’s Musée d’Orsay, my style favours quiet expression over elaborate settings. The result is something closer to a traditional painted portrait than an ordinary photograph.

You are welcome to include yourself and other family members in your portraits, too. After all, the bond you share is as much a part of the story as the animals themselves.

Photographs Never Forget

Among my own most treasured possessions are photographs of the people and animals I have loved. Pictures of childhood pets, grandparents I last saw more than forty years ago, and my father all have their place in my home. Even the faded portraits in a 180-year-old family album connect me to ancestors I never knew.

I hope the portraits I create for you will become just as precious.

Whether you choose to display them on your walls or keep them somewhere more private, they will always be there to remind you of a much-loved companion. And perhaps, many years from now, someone else in your family will look at those same photographs and understand just how much they meant to you.

A Little About Me

I am a professional pet photographer based in Ocean Reef, on Perth’s northern beaches. In 2016, I completed the rigorous accreditation process of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography, earning the title of AIPP Accredited Professional Photographer.

My commitment is simple: to give you a relaxed, personal experience and create portraits of your companions with the care, skill and artistry they deserve.

Because their place in your life deserves to be remembered.
